Apart from poverty and conflict, the consequences of technological advances, of the globalization of socio-technical transitions, and of the uniformity of the world economy, are questions to which the economic analysis of development must find answers. With scientific and technical knowledge being inexhaustible resources, it is necessary to transform this knowledge into useful goods and services.
